Acupuncture is a principal component of the Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment system: through the use of very fine needles inserted at strategic points on the body qi is redistributed and physical or mental/emotional dysfunction is harmonized. These strategic points are found along channels (meridians) and are located within the superficial fascia (connective tissue beneath the skin); fascia contains blood vessels, nerve endings, ions and hormones, and connects distant areas of the body. Our acupuncturist performs shiatsu massage to stimulate redistribution of qi prior to inserting needles into the acupuncture points.

This is a separate service offered by our TCM doctor which can be utilized in conjunction with acupuncture as part of your treatment plan.
